![]() I loved it so much that I actually waited through the credits to see who the artist was. ![]() Let me just say that I am IN LOVE with the art of this game, specifically the character designs and illustrations. All the more reason to why I mostly play story driven games on Easy now. For a minute I thought I was playing on Normal mode. I thought it would be no problem beating him, but I actually lost for the first time in the game and I had to think carefully about how to beat him. The most surprising difficult part of the game was the last boss. According to HowLongToBeat, it usually takes on average 8 hours to beat the game presumably on Normal. I played the game on Easy mode so it was fun to just feel OP’ed and breeze my way through the game in about 4-5 hours (Don’t judge me. I would say that was the more interesting part of the game in terms of gameplay besides crafting. However, while I usually despise puzzles in games, the ones in here weren’t difficult and were actually quite fun. It’s the basic kind of turn-based RPG and is the most generic thing about the game. There’s nothing much to say about the gameplay really. The lore of Skyborn makes it ripe to make plenty of spin-offs and sequels. It’s almost sad something like it couldn’t be remade into a more ambitious game with a bigger budget. It probably won’t be super unpredictable, but it’s definitely a satisfying story. It has a lot of fun twists and intriguing lore. I would say the story is the most enjoyable and heartwarming thing about the game. It’s a funny and really charming game with a delightfully interesting story. I love the cast of characters, especially since they’re not typical stereotypes, they are genuinely interesting with their own unique backstory that adds more to the plot as you progress through the game. However, I can’t say the same for Skyborn as it definitely feels like a game that has a lot of soul and passion put into it. The 16-bit uninspired visuals is an eyesore to me and it’s usually an excuse for developers to recycle assets. Note for the completists: there is one of the achievements that can't be unlocked if you progress too far into the game so you might as well read at least the description of the achievements, if not a guide, before diving in.For the record, I personally I dislike RPGMaker games. This game doesn't give in challenge, it is only there for you to enjoy the exploration and the poetry, with a calm, sometimes melancholic atmosphere. The gameplay is limited to the strict minimum: moving and jumping in human form, or flying in bird form. ![]() I think the devs probably got inspired by Zelda: the Wind Waker as I found quite some similarities with it in this game: the cartoony graphical style of course, but also a large open world made of islands, with the Tower of the Gods right in the middle. ![]() The game basically alternates between two gameplays: the exploration of the open world, where you fly around as a bird as three dungeons where you solved basic puzzles. ☐ The game itself is a big terrarium for bugsĪER Memories of Old is a short but enchanting experience in which you explore a world made of floating islands. ☐ Only if u care about leaderboards/ranks I could go about this game forever, but you should see for yourself. The only bad thing is its a bit incomplete and the ending is weird, but thats pretty much it! There's not a game i would recommend more and I honestly think that if the game would be 60$ it would be still worth buying. (played this game before on epic) An amazing game with amazing indie visuals, great cutsceneless storyline that will keep everyone satisfied, great mechanix, character designs, great soundtrack.
